Dip-dyeing marshmallows is a kid-friendly activity and a fun alternative to dyeing eggs this holiday season!
Materials:
- Marshmallows – we recommend regular or jumbo-sized
- Water
- Food-safe coloring or dye
- Spoon
- Muffin tin
- Paper grocery bag or paper towels
Instructions:
- Lay out the paper grocery bag or paper towels and place the muffin tin on top. Fill each cup of the muffin tin about halfway with water. For each tablespoon of water, add about 6 drops of food-safe coloring or dye in the colors of your choice and stir.
- Place a marshmallow on the spoon (or use your fingers) and dip it into the cup. You can submerge the marshmallow completely or partially to achieve the desired effect.
- Note: Be careful with the food-safe coloring or dye – it can stain your skin and other surfaces.
- After dipping your marshmallow, place it on the paper grocery bag or paper towels to dry for about 5 minutes. If desired, dip the other side in another color. Repeat until your achieve the desired look.
- Once all dipping is complete, allow the marshmallows to dry for about an hour, flipping them halfway through to ensure even drying.
- Once dried, the dyed marshmallows can be stored in an airtight container or bag, or used as decorations in Easter baskets.
